This section is for county officials and county staff who are looking for guidance on how to work with providers to establish and execute successful partnerships for broadband projects. GREAT Grants in NC Counties
Active Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
This will help you find out all of the active internet service providers (ISPs) in your county. This resource can be helpful in determining who the active providers are so that a county can bring all providers together for a provider roundtable, or for individual outreach to understand plans for broadband expansion projects. This information can also be added to a county’s asset mapping document to understand the active providers in the county so that a county can be strategic in its efforts.
Useful Map Tips
- You may want to change the type of map you are viewing and can select basemaps, where a list of different map types will appear. Choosing navigation map will show streets, which might be more easily readable.
- Use the county filter at the top right corner of the map to select a county.
- On the right hand side of the map, a list will appear showing all reported active providers and the type of service they provide.

Hosting a Provider Roundtable
Once you’ve collected the data for your county and know the providers in your county, it’s time to get everyone together to discuss broadband plans.
This resource helps a county structure a provider roundtable to establish relationships with current and potential service providers. This meeting can also provide an opportunity for counties to set out their goals for broadband and to find out if there is a provider who will be the right partner with them in this work.
